Who we are
Catchmently is run by Simple Metrics Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16700613), registered office 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ. Email support@catchmently.com.
By using Catchmently you agree to these terms. If you buy a pass, they form the contract between you and us, together with the refund policy. The privacy notice explains how we handle personal data.
What Catchmently is, and what it is not
Catchmently brings together information that others publish: the Department for Education, Ofsted, councils, the Office for National Statistics, police forces, HM Land Registry, the Environment Agency and others. Each figure names its source.
- It is not admission advice. Councils and admission authorities decide who is offered a place, using their own published admission arrangements for the year you apply.
- A last distance offered describes one past year. It changes from year to year and does not predict whether your child will get a place.
- Catchment and priority areas traced from council documents are labelled as traced and are approximate. Distances and boundaries on the map are for guidance only.
- Sources contain errors and go out of date, and so can we. Before you rely on anything, check it with the council, the school or the original source.
Free use and the 3-month pass
Searching, school details, Ofsted, the latest results and admissions figures and parent reviews are free. The 3-month pass unlocks the extra information listed on the pass page.
- The pass costs the price shown before you pay (currently £9.99), including any VAT that applies. You pay once through Stripe. There is no subscription: nothing renews and we never charge you again.
- It starts as soon as your payment is confirmed and lasts 92 days, then ends by itself.
- It belongs to the email address you signed in with and is for your own household's personal use. Do not share your sign-in link or session, or resell access.
- Before you pay, you ask for the pass to start straight away and acknowledge that you then lose the 14-day right to cancel. Your other rights, for example if the pass is faulty, are unaffected: see the refund policy.
- You must be 18 or over to buy a pass.
Accounts
You sign in with a link we email you; there is no password. You must be 13 or over to have an account. Keep access to your email account secure: anyone who can open your sign-in links can use your account.
Fair use
Catchmently is for personal, non-commercial use. You must not:
- scrape, bulk download or systematically copy Catchmently, or access it by automated means;
- get around the pass, sign-in, rate limits or other access controls;
- use Catchmently to build or feed a competing product or dataset;
- interfere with the site or use it unlawfully.
The underlying public data stays available from its publishers under their own licences, such as the Open Government Licence; these terms cover your use of Catchmently itself. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these rules. If we do that during a pass without good reason, we will refund you in proportion to the time left.
Parent reviews
- Write only about your own experience, honestly. Do not name or identify pupils or staff, share anyone's personal information, or post anything defamatory, offensive or unlawful.
- We check reviews before they appear and may decline or remove them. Reviews are shown without your email address.
- You keep ownership of what you write and give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to publish it on Catchmently. You can ask us to remove it at any time.
- Reviews are one person's view, not ours and not an Ofsted judgement.
Changes and availability
We keep improving Catchmently and may change, add or remove features and data. We aim to keep it available but cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free. If we permanently withdraw a significant part of what the pass includes while your pass is running, we will refund you in proportion to the time left. We may update these terms; changes do not affect a pass you have already bought.
Your legal rights and our liability
If you are a consumer, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 gives you rights in relation to digital content and services, including that they are as described, of satisfactory quality and provided with reasonable care and skill. Nothing in these terms affects those rights.
We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, we are responsible only for loss or damage that was a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill, and not for business losses. Because Catchmently is not admission advice, we are not responsible for decisions about schools, homes or moves that you make using it.
Law and complaints
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales, or, if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, in your local courts. If something goes wrong, email us first and we will try to put it right.
